This is a new style of project for Falmouth DFAS. The concept and structure has been approved by NADFAS house and work has just started.Plantsman

This group will research the important role of the ports of Falmouth and Penryn in the 18th and 19th centuries in the importation of exotic plants and their subsequent distribution. 

The research aims to uncover the people and places which played such a significant role in changing the design and feel of gardens and parkland throughout the country.

The information to be gathered will include things such as the : Plant Name, Importing Ship, Where From, Date of Arrival of Ship, Who was Importing, the Buyer, Plant Hunter, Nursery/nurseryman and cost.Plantsman

The resulting research will be made available to local libraries and museums who have expressed an interest in the research.
